Issues
• Overall purpose and intent of PQP Card
(“Mission Creep”)
• Not all Professional Qualifications have been mapped.
• Health & Safety Test
- Structure
- Question Bank
• Non-Resident Definition
(30 days in 6 months)
• Ineffective Publicity
• Non-Membership of Professional Bodies
Purpose and Intent of PQP
• Clear Agreement with CSCS
- To recognise professional competence as determined by the
professional bodies and verified by CIC.
- Bolting on worthwhile and meaningful Health & Safety Test.
• Joint Statement to be issued
(PIs, CIC, CSCS)
Not all PIs have been mapped
• Not a Big issue
• Should be encouraged to go through
process
• No “soft” options
• CIC to run workshop for Non-mapped PIs
Health & Safety Test
• Test should not be split into options
• Question bank needs to be “accurate, appropriate
and relevant”
• QB needs thorough overhaul
Non-Resident Definition
• Arbitrary
• Re-visit definition alongside review, mapping
against expected roles and responsibilities of
professionals required to visit sites on a regular
basis.
• Arrive at more “accurate, appropriate and relevant
definition.
Ineffective Publicity
• Happy not to promote something that is not
“accurate, appropriate or relevant”
• Once satisfactory new arrangements have been
implemented.
- New publicity information should be developed
jointly by CIC/CSCS
Non-Membership of Professional Bodies
• Each Institution will have a method of identifying
transferability.
• No evidence of this being a current problem.
• No immediate action required.
Next Steps
• CIC Health & Safety Committee approved proposals (19 February 2008)
• Health & Safety Question Bank Group established (met on 13 February
2008).
• Accepted Terms of Reference as set out by CIC (i.e. single set of
questions).
• Reviewing existing questions (by 28 March 2008).
• Agree format and question review (9 April 2008)
• Minimum of three months testing and preparation.
• Further Report to Council in June 2008.
