All organisms must share
all of the following 8 characteristics
in order to be classified as living
1. Made up of cells- unicellular or multicellular
2. Highly organized- complexity increases
3. The ability to reproduce- asexually or sexually
4. They grow and develop
5. They respond to their environment (irritability)
6. They maintain an internal balance (homeostasis)
7. They metabolize (use energy)
8. They have a life span
