Technologies Programme Promotion to Commonwealth of
Independent States”
Goal:
WISTCIS project promotes IST Programme and introduces 6th FP to seven European
CIS countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine.
Objectives:
 Demonstrate IST objectives, opportunities and telematics products to the CIS
community
 Develop in the participating CIS countries a system of Information Dissemination
Centres (IDCs)
 Select and adapt to the participating CIS countries telematics tools produced by
IST to extend and encourage EU-CIS team work
 Encourage submission of new joint EU-CIS project proposals to 5th and 6th FPs
 Provide training course and supporting literature in Russian language to promote
dissemination of 5th and 6th FPs to the CIS countries
 Adapt Virtual Presence System for collaborative browsing within EU-CIS team
work

Goals and objectives:

Promote IST Programme and 6th FP to European CIS audience by face-toface training measures

Provide in-depth demonstrations of IST and other relevant EU telematics
products. By that introduce new methods of team work in the participating
CIS countries

Encourage submission of new project proposals with participation of the
CIS countries

Evaluate current level of EU-CIS teleworking in research, business,
education and environment

Establish preliminary collaboration agreements between potential project
partners in EU and the CIS countries

Ukrainian IDC focused at telemedicine and distant training launched including
WISTCIS Web-site

Teleworking developments in Ukraine and other CIS countries reported and
evaluated. Plans of collaboration with potential EU partners agreed

First version of WISTCIS Training Course (by PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and
Teleworking Manual (by JC Consultants) evaluated

CoBrow collaborative browsing toolkit evaluated in real-time demonstration with
participation of Ulm, Freiberg, Moscow, Kishinev, Minsk, Yerevan and Kiev IDCs

WISTCIS workplan discussed in details and adopted

WISTCIS Newsletter Vol.1 in English and Russian widely disseminated in hardcopies and via WISTCIS Web-sites

Numerous preliminary collaboration agreements were signed between EU and CIS

Six IST and other relevant European teleworking applications were
demonstrated

Teleworking applications for environmental and natural hazards research and
monitoring in Moldova-Romania region were introduced and evaluated.
Preparation of new project proposal to 6th FP by German, French, Romanian
and Moldovan organizations was launched

WISTCIS collaboration on clustering initiative with TELEBALT, TELESOL,
E3WORK and TEAMWORK projects started

WISTCIS collaboration with NATO scientific committee project on computer
telecommunication channels development in Moldova-Romania started

Collaboration with Open Partial Agreement on major hazards in Europe started
