This means 1 out of every 7
Canadians aged 15 and over.
An estimated 3.4 million people.
Of this number, over 1 million are
unemployed and would like to work.

We have two free online programs to offer
 Internet Business Development for
Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (IBDE)


Business Abilities – business planning
and advance business management
course with online coaching


We will enroll 80 PWD throughout Canada per year
We are projecting 150 students per year
Students can register online for both programs

IBDE Criteria




self-identify as someone with a permanent
physical disability or chronic health issue
be unemployed (work less than 20 hours per week)
be legally entitled to work in Canada
possess some computer skills
(questionnaire is given to assess skills)

have a computer that meets the
requirements for web design work with an
Internet connection.
Program Costs


The Business Abilities Program is free
for eligible students.
IBDE tuition is covered but course
materials aren’t at this time.


They cost approx. $500 for 2 software
programs, 3 textbooks & your domain
name and storage for assignments
Funds are usually available locally or
provincially

Phase One is an online course where:

research their business ideas
prepare a business plan
source out financing opportunities
(while they establish their business)

A Business Plan review & critique
Business coaching assistance
throughout the business start-up

BA Eligibility Requirements





Have a permanent disability or chronic
health problem
Be unemployed (less than 20hrs/wk)
Be legally entitled to work in Canada
Be in need of assistance to prepare for
self employment
Not collecting EI or be reachback
(Some exceptions can be made)
Benefits to Participants




Work at home at their own pace.
Accomplishments help to bolster self-esteem.
Develop a network with other participants.
Within six months they have marketable skills that
can lead to employment or self employment.
