( G: tour guide T: Tourist)
T: What activities are we going to have tonight?
G: We will go to see programs by Chinese Acrobatic Circus.
T: That is great.
G: The programs are marvelous, some of them won gold medals in various well-known international acrobatic contests such as in France, Hungary,
Russia and Italy.
T: What kind of things do they have?
G: All kinds. They have magic shows, flying trapeze arts, tightrope walking and even the clowns. It is a combination of Chinese acrobatic art, Chinese
gongfu, Chinese dance and Chinese music.
T: That’s great. I’m eager to go now. When and where is it on?
G: It’s on Poly Plaza International theater at 7 O’clock.
( at the theater)
T: Look at the flying trapeze act. They are scary. I’m afraid that the acrobats might fall down to the ground.
G: Don’t worry about them. They are skillful acrobats, and what is more, they have safety ropes fastened on them.
T: They are doing a very hard and dangerous job. It is really breathtaking.
G: Look at this program. It is funny and relaxing.
T: Ah, the clown is doing tightrope walking. He is making faces to the audience.
G: It is not an easy job, isn’t it?
T: No, this would also take a lot of skill. What a special costume he has.
G: Now, look at the girl who is building a pagoda of bowls. This program won a gold medal in the international acrobatic contest in Italy.
T: Oh, this is incredible.
G: How do you think of the programs tonight?
T: The programs are typically Chinese. The dance, the music, the costume, the art are so wonderful. This circus game me a touch of the Chinese culture.
G: I’m glad to hear that.

R: Good morning, sir. Welcome to our club.
G: Thank you. I’d like to know something about your club.

G: Is there anything special of it?
R: We have pingpong room, a squash room, a bowling room, a gym, 4 badminton courts, 6 tennis courts, an
indoor swimming pool, bars, restaurant, and so on.
G: It’s a good place to relax, and go in for indoor and outdoor recreational activities, isn’t it?
R:Yes. We adopt club membership. Our members can get the discount they are entitled to.
G: May I know more about membership?
(later at the reception room)
R: We have three kinds of membership card: the individual card, the family card, and the company card.
G: What’s the difference between the individual card and the family card?
R:There is one main card for the individual card holder, but one main and one subsidiary for the family card
holders.10,000 yuan per year for the former and 16,000 yuan for the latter.
G: What are the privileges?
R:Gym and swimming are free of charge; a 40% discount for bowling, tennis, sauna and massage, and a 20%
