THE FIVE WS FOR USING MOODLE
• This session will cover the 5 W's for using the
Moodle Online Learning Management System as
one alternative to create engaging online digital
learning courses for students or for teacher
professional development.
WHAT IS MOODLE?
• Moodle is a free – open source learning. There
are no licenses.
• Online Learning Management system (LMS)
• Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
WHY USE MOODLE?
• Georgia Senate Bill 289 Digital Learning Act requires school systems
beginning in 2013-2014, to give every 3rd-12th grade student the
opportunity to enroll in part and/or full-time virtual instruction.
• Senate Bill 289 all requires all 9 th grade students to take at least one
online course before graduation beginning in 2014-2015. The bill
would also require schools to give all end-of-course assessments
online starting in 2015.
• Ease of access and use for students and instructors.
• Great to use with BYLD (BYOT)
• Flipped classroom

• Our district has been using Moodle since 2007.
• All of our high schools and four middle schools are
using Moodle.
