TO SUMMARISE FROM AN EXTRACT AND PUT KEY
DETAILS IN YOUR OWN WORDS....
Question 3 tests this ability.
TOP TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE SUMMARISING:
 Read the passages carefully. Highlighting key
information that you will be summarising.
 Write in an informative style- You are giving a factual
summary
 DO NOT WRITE A NARRATIVE OR IN THE FIRST
PERSON
 Do NOT quote phrases from the passages. You must use
YOUR OWN WORDS!!
 You must be CONCISE in your answer, you need to get as
many points as possible into a few lines!
 If you are doing the Extended paper you must NOT write
more than one side of average handwriting.
