of vocal physiology in
1873. He became a
naturalised U.S. citizen
in 1882.
 Alexander was always
fascinated by the idea of
transmitting sound.
 By 1875 he came up with a
simple receiver that
turned electricity into
sound.
o Alexander Graham Bell
invented the telephone on 7th
March 1876.
o Within a year the first
telephone exchange was built in
Connecticut and the Bell
Telephone Company was
created in 1877, with Bell the
owner of a third of the shares,
quickly making him a wealthy
man.
However, debate still
continues who actually
invented the telephone. It
has been said that
Antonio Meucci created
it. He was an Italian
inventor, but nobody really
knows who invented it.
