for a Global Society

Portray cultural accuracy and authenticity of characters in
terms of:
a. physical characteristics
b. intellectual abilities, problem solving capabilities
c. leadership and cooperative dimensions
d. social and economic status
2. Are rich in cultural details
3. Honor and celebrate diversity as
of “humanity.”

4. Provide in-depth treatment of cultural issues.
5. Include characters within a cultural group or between one or
more cultural groups who interact substantively and
authentically.
6. Include members of a "minority" group for a purpose other
than filling a "quota."

Multicultural Literature
Multicultural literature usually refers to literature that reflects
a multitude of cultural groups within the U.S. primarily focusing
on ethnic and regional groups whose cultures historically have
been lessrepresented than European cultures.
