November 17, 2009 16 • • • • JHHS Curriculum: Career Technical Education Information Support and Services – Virtual Business – Marketing/Web Design – Business Finance Media Support and Services – Theater – Dance – Music/Band and Choir – TV Production/Video Editing Network Communications – Business Communications – Networking – Computer Security Advanced Academics – International Baccalaureate/Honors/Advanced Placement November 17, 2009 17 JHHS Athletics • JHHS will provide competitive athletic programs that will complement the challenging academic programs offered • JHHS will be in the Mountain Valley League with the following schools: • Citrus Valley • Rubidoux • Rim of the World • Norte Dame (Riverside) • Banning November 17, 2009 18 JHHS Athletics (cont’d) JHHS will offer the following sports: FALL SPORTS • Football • Cross Country • Girls Volleyball • Girls Tennis • Cheerleading WINTER SPORTS • Basketball • Soccer SPRING SPORTS • Baseball • Softball • Track and Field • Boy’s Tennis November 17, 2009 19 JHHS Athletics (cont’d) • REMEMBER: Before you can get on the field or court you need to take care of business in the classroom. – Must maintain a GPA of 2.0 – Must pass 4 classes November 17, 2009 20 Transportation • New High School walk radius: 4 miles • Shuttle service will be available to transport students across the 10 freeway • Bus stop information will be available in April 2010 • Same cost structure as existing high schools • Traffic – The City is currently building a four-lane overpass bridge at Cypress Avenue • to be completed in early Fall of 2010 • Will NOT be a freeway Off- and On-Ramp, will ONLY be for crossing over the freeway • Wide sidewalks for good pedestrian access • For updates on the Cypress overpass progress, visit the City’s website: www.fontana.org – Citrus Avenue overpass expansion work to begin after completion of Cypress Avenue overpass November 17, 2009 21 Intra-District Transfers • • • • • Current 8th and 9th grade students living in the JHHS boundary will be enrolled at JHHS for the 2010-11 school year Current 10th and 11th grade students will remain at their current high school Students living outside the JHHS boundary currently in 8th or 9th grade may apply for an intra-district transfer to attend JHHS Students currently in 8th or 9th grade living in the JHHS boundary area that have a sibling in 11th grade at an existing High School may apply for a ONE-YEAR ONLY intra-district transfer to attend that school with their sibling Transfer Procedure: – – – – – • Child Welfare & Attendance and SELPA handle all transfer requests Forms are available this evening, at any school site, or at the District offices Open Enrollment for Intra-District Transfers will be December 1, 2009 through January 29, 2010 Completed Forms are to be turned in at the school site requested JHHS forms are to be turned in to Child Welfare & Attendance (CWA, trailer #12 at the District Office Complex) Reminder: ALL current Intra-district transfer students must complete a New Application for the 2010-11 school year November 17, 2009 22 School Calendar IMPORTANT DATES – First Day of School: August 9th, 2010 – End of first Semester: December 17th, 2010 – Start of second Semester: January 10, 2011 – End of second Semester/ End of School Year: May 27, 2011 November 17, 2009 23 CONSTRUCTION PHOTOS… …QUESTIONS?
