Why is St Anne’s in Special Measures?

Achievement is poor. Progress is inconsistent

Some weak teaching observed and over a sustained period of time will be the
cause of insufficient progress in writing

The more able do not make sufficient progress because tracking has been
poor over time

Progress for those who are eligible for the pupil premium is poor

In some classes at times differentiation is poor and pace of learning is slow

Issues with the number of Headteachers and monitoring by Governors
What does St Anne’s need to do to improve
further?



Improve the quality of teaching so that it is consistently good or better by:
•
Accurately assessing pupils attainment
•
Raising expectations of what all pupils can achieve and setting tasks appropriate for their
needs
•
Ensuring the pace of learning in all lessons is fast enough to ensure good progress
Raise achievement in writing by:
•
Providing more opportunities for pupils to write at length across the curriculum
•
Ensuring the writing policy is consistently applied in all classes
Improve leadership and management by ensuring that:
•
Weaknesses in teaching are eliminated rapidly with checks implemented
•
Performance management is linked to achievement and includes CPD
Improve the quality of teaching

To raise the quality of teaching to 100% good-outstanding

Every member of the teaching staff to be observed at least 4 times before the end of the
academic year by SLT
