National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)
“Instructional programs from Pre-K through grade 12
should enable all students to—
communicate their mathematical thinking coherently and
clearly to peers, teachers, and others;
 organize and consolidate their mathematical thinking
through communication;
 analyze and evaluate the mathematical thinking and
strategies of others;
 use the language of mathematics to express mathematical
ideas precisely. “

Process Standard 2: Communication

1. Use mathematical language and symbols to read
and write mathematics and to converse with others.

2. Demonstrate mathematical ideas orally and in
writing.

3. Analyze mathematical definitions and discover

The goal of the game is to be the first player to
reach 100.

On your turn, roll the dice as many times as you
would like, mentally keeping a running total of the
sum. When you decide to stop rolling, record your
total for that turn and add it to the total from any
previous turns.

If a 1 comes up on one of the dice, your turn is over
and you score 0 points for that round. If you roll a 1
on both dice, you lose your turn and ALL points.

With a partner (or two), select one of your
word lists and create a haiku.
