of bidding documents including environmental and socioeconomic impact studies for the upgrading of the CuambaMandimba road (160km) in Mozambique;

preparation of tender documents including esia for the
rehabilitation of the Mangochi-Liwonde Junction road in
Malawi;
• Feasibility study and preliminary design of the
Malawi/Zambia one-stop border post; Detail engineering
design and preparation of bidding documents for the
Malawi/Zambia and Mozambique/Malawi one-stop border
posts;
• Legal framework for the extra-territorial operation of onestop border posts at the common border crossing

• An efficient and safe electricity supply mode to Burkina
Faso
• improved, affordable and sustainable access to energy
for WAPP countries with limited energy resources
• Economic benefits from cost-savings associated with a
significantly reduced utilization of fossil fuels for
powering generating plants in Burkina Faso
• Fiscal benefits accruing to both Ghana and Burkina
Faso governments through increased business and
industrial activities;
• Ensure security of electricity supply for the
interconnected networks in the region in the long-term,
through diversification of supply sources and optimal
utilization of the region’s energy resources

Benefits
 provides Malawi and eastern Zambia with a link to the Nacala port
 providing a viable alternative route for the countries’ exports and imports as
compared to the Beira, Durban and Dar-es-Salaam routes

 reducing in-transit times and protect the investment from overloading of
heavy goods vehicles
