So for example, this Junior student’s English progress is as follows:
English 9 – needs 1.0, has 1.0, so is complete (note the “Status” column)
English 10 – needs 1.0, has 1.0, so is complete
English 11 – needs 1.0, is enrolled for the full year (first semester grade
not entered yet) so it’s “IN PROGRESS.”
English 12 – needs 1.0, has 0, this student will sign up for English 12!
New students: You may not have previous school’s credits reflected if your
counselor has not received an official transcript from your last school.

CHOOSING CLASSES
Using the LHS Course Planning Guide
Using the LHS Course Planning Guide
 The
Course Planning Guide is only
available online through the Lynnwood
High School Website.
 The
following slides will show you where
to find it and how to use it to help you
choose the classes you want.
Where to find the LHS Course Planning Guide
Go to the LHS website
http://www.edmonds.wednet.edu/lhs/site/default.asp
and click on the “Counseling” tab.
http://www.edmonds.wednet.edu/lhs/site/default.asp
Then select LHS Course Planning Guide.
A tip for finding information: When the Planning Guide
opens, find what you are looking for by using the
“Search” or “Find” function of your browser.
For example, to find information on the course
Graphic Arts 1, type it in and hit “search.”
All instances of Graphic Arts 1 appear and you can click on each
item. Notice the first one takes you to the LHS Course Summary.
This one takes you to the Course Description.

Figure out where you stand with requirements (chart on page 6).
Remember:

Once you complete an area, additional credits in that area are applied to
“Electives” (ex. After you have 1.0 credits in Art, additional Art credits go
to
Electives).

In some instances, you may be able to use an equivalency to meet a
requirement (ex. 2.0 Sports Med credit can be used for 1.0 PE credit.);
see your counselor with questions.

Check your LHS graduation requirements against the requirements to
apply to a four year college. There are some differences…

Choosing Classes

High school is a time when students begin to
identify their strengths and areas of interest.

There are many classes and programs offered
at LHS that can allow you to learn more about
potential areas of interest and guide you to
future college programs and careers.
Choosing Classes

Many of these classes offer the potential for
college credit by simply doing well in LHS
classes.

Advanced Placement (there will be more information
on these classes through advisory later this month.)







Use pencil except for signatures.

Required courses by grade level are already
indicated.

Registration Forms: Completing the form

All students should create a six period schedule.



Students considering Running Start will still enroll in six
classes, in case they change their mind about RS.
The same applies for Sno-Isle TECH—students apply
online separately to that program and will work with
counselors to adjust their schedules if they are accepted.
Students who plan on signing up for AP classes,
must also turn in their AP Commitment Form when
they come to the library to register. You will get this
form if you attend AP Information sessions, during
advisory on Feb. 18 – Feb. 26.
