Policy and Procedures
Registration
CLASS ENROLLMENT
Eight block schedule:
students must maintain SIX
classes each semester
An extra class may be added
if it is for Student Senate,
music, publications, or
speech class.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
 Each semester, students are asked to attend the first two
days of school (an Orange Day and a Black Day)
following the schedule of courses they originally signed
up for.
 The next two days students have the opportunity to
change their schedule.
 Schedule changes will be granted only with the approval
of a counselor or an assistant principal. Students should
choose their classes wisely during registration because
changes are often not possible at the beginning of a
semester.
 Changes will only be made for incorrect level, prior
semester failure, or class conflict. Changes will not be
made for teacher or off block preference.
ADDING/DROPPING CLASSES
• All class additions must occur no later than the end of
the first week of the semester.
• Classes dropped during weeks 3-6 will result in a grade
of WF or WP as indicated by the teacher.
• Classes dropped after week 6 will result in a grade of F
for the semester and will affect the cumulative GPA. See
your counselor for the necessary forms.
• Students must maintain six classes.
GRADES AND CREDIT
• All classes at LHS are worth .50 credit per
semester with the exception of Tiger Time
which is .25 credit
• Students earning an “F” receive no credit.
“D’s” are passing. (But not optimal for college
preparation.)
• Progress report grades are issued every six
(6) weeks. No paper copies will be handed
out. You can access reports through Infinite
Campus
• Only semester grades are recorded on
transcripts.
Parent/Teacher Conferences:
After the first six weeks of each semester
September 30th and October 1st (4:30 –
7:00pm)
February 25th (4:30 – 7:00pm)
Great opportunity to briefly touch base
with each of your student’s teachers
MAKE UP COURSE OPPORTUNITIES
Students are not generally permitted to retake
failed courses.
Students who fail classes need to make an
appointment with their counselors to explore
credit retrieval options.
There are several credit recovery options one of
which is online coursework. The cost is typically
around $140.00 per class. Students need to talk
with their counselor to get information and make
arrangements.
GRADE CLASSIFICATION
All students are classified by grade level based on years
enrolled in school. Students are on track to graduate if
they have achieved the following credit levels:
Complete Grade 9
Complete Grade 10
Complete Grade 11
6 Earned Credits

Graduate 23 Earned Credits
*Students who do not achieve these credit levels still
advance to the next grade.
