A very detailed worksheet...
Now with colors!
The problem with 18 levels
• Each level must be maintained separately
• Initial setup is going to be tedious (copy level
does help)
• A change to one window, field, or button
may mean 18 separate updates
Security Levels in 5.10
•
•
•
•
Each level defines a set of users
Each has one or more security roles
Individual users are assigned to a level
Security Roles and Levels are configured in
PowerAdmin
What are Security Roles?
• Security roles grant access to modules, windows,
icons, fields, buttons, etc.
• Access is read/write (green), read-only (yellow),
and none (red).
• “Green always wins” when roles are combined
Revising the list
01. Rolodex Module
02. Patient Card &
Patient Info window
03. Patient Care Module
04. Scheduler Module,
Family Appointments
Window &
Appointment Expert Window
05. Transactions Module
06. Electronic Health Record &
Patient Attachments Module
07. Perio Chart Module
08. Ortho Module
09. Personal Planner Module
10. Chart Tracking Module
11. Info Manager Module
12. Maintenance Module
13. Miscellaneous (Actions,
Tools, Links, Patient,
Window, and Help Menus)
14. “Add-Ons”
Why “Add-Ons”?
• Roles are applied in broad strokes, but don’t allow
for all possibilities
• “Add-Ons” allow for the rule-breakers – where
one job function needs a specific field or button
that no one else does
• “Green always wins” still applies
Back to the Spreadsheet
Willamette Dental’s solution
• One read-only role for each Module
• One read/write role for each Module
• Combinations of none, read-only, or
read/write roles determine the access for
each Level
