Annual Title I Meeting
Ware County High School
September 13, 2011
6:00 - 7:00pm
Ware County High School
Room 1201
What is Title I?
Title I began in 1965 (ESEA)
as a federal program to
ensure equal opportunities
for low income school
districts. In 2002, it was
reauthorized as NCLB.
Through Title I, the federal
government disburses
money to schools based on
the number of low-income
students in the school.
The school uses its Title I
money to supplement and
improve educational
programs offered to help
students meet state
standards.
WCHS—Title I School
WCHS is a Title I School
Over 40% of our student population
is eligible for free or reduced price
lunch
Must develop a Title I Schoolwide
Plan
School Improvement Plan &
Adequate Yearly Progress
Under ESEA, formerly NCLB, whenever a
school has failed to meet Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP) for two consecutive years,
it is labeled as a Needs Improvement
School. Consequently, a School
Improvement Plan is required to be
developed that targets the specific areas
of improvement which will lead the
school back to making Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP).

Adequate Yearly Progress
WCHS is in Needs Improvement Year 3

GA Performance Standards (GPS)
The Georgia Performance Standards
(GPS) gives clear guidelines for
teaching the subjects, testing what
students are learning, and the work
students are doing. They explain the
level of work (rigor) that allows a
teacher to know "how good is good
enough."
