Step 2 - Test Delivery Client Installation

Which Installer Method?

Standard Installer

• Standard Software Installation Process • Sites can use silent Install Scripts. • Users must have read/write rights.

• Recommended for Thin Client and Deepfreeze (or similar) sites

Custom Installer

• There are several options to install using the Custom TDC Installer. This presentation will cover three methods. Choose the method best suited for your location.

• Option 1 - Install from Workstation • Option 2 - Install from Server • Option 3 - Install from Workstation with Content on the Server

Other consideration: BYOD, Wireless, Thin Clients

Slide 15

Test Delivery Client Custom Install – General

Custom Installer - Overview

C:\Test_Content or \\Testing\Server1\Content Create a folder to

store

the Test Client executable and Content (example: C:\Test_Content).

Edit shortcut to set EXE and CONTENT location, PROXY settings

This could be on each Workstation or on a Network Server

Create a shortcut pointing to the TDC executable Developed under contract with the Oklahoma State Department of Education (SDE) by CTB/McGraw-Hill Education LLC (CTB).

Slide 16

Step 3 – Install test content

Example: Custom Installer - Option 1 - Install from Workstation

4. Create a content folder on the workstation. (example: C:\Test_Content).

5. Add the content into the workstation content folder you just created.

Test Delivery Client - Other Considerations

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) or 1:1

• Consider Security policies • Install / Uninstall policy • Students must have Test Ticket and Access Code • Consider Install from Server - Option 2

Wireless

• Always-on connection required • Constant heartbeat check to CTB servers • Don’t overload Wireless Access Point

Thin Client considerations:

• TDC is running multiple instances: 1 per thin client • Content check, decryption, rendering utilize CPU, disk, memory

Developed under contract with the Oklahoma State Department of Education (SDE) by CTB/McGraw-Hill Education LLC (CTB).

Screen savers/power management set to a longer timeout

For a Positive Testing Experience…

Restrict intensive bandwidth use during testing (VoIP, Payroll, Drop box) Restore software (Deep Freeze) configured to retain test data after reboot Text To Speech –Volume and MP3 Laptop protocol – Use AC power, wired access, wireless check All other applications closed on testing machines during the test Prioritize/Allow *.ctb.com

Ports Opened as described Anti-virus software full scans scheduled after testing hours For a Positive Testing Experience … Allow IPs (If IPs are used at site)
