Why is college and career Readiness important?
Large percentage of students never complete high school – 2012 U.S. high school graduation rate was 80% – Each year, 1M kids in the U.S. fail to graduate from high school in time Students who drop out: – Earn $1M less over their lifetime – 3x more likely to be unemployed – 2x more likely to live in poverty – More likely to have poor health – More likely to be on public assistance – More likely to be single parents *National Center of Educational Statistics 2
Many dropouts can be prevented

Each dropout costs taxpayers $292K.
Dropouts have a negative fiscal contribution of $5K on society.
Conversely, adults with a Bachelor’s Degrees contribute nearly $800K to economy.
