Schedule

7:45 – 12:00 12:00 – 2:35 Homeroom class Switch class 9:45 – 10:35 PE/Music 11:25 – 11:55 Lunch 11:10 – 11:25 Recess Monday – Computer Lab and Library (make sure student always have their library books in their backpack!)

    Conduct grades will be E, S, N, U and will be worth a numerical value in the grade book Work habit reminders will be on the top of the sheet.

Conduct marks will be in the bottom portion of the sheet. You will see our initials.

Weekly conduct sheets will come home on Fridays. Please return signed on Monday.

Classroom Rewards

    Falcon Wings- Earned daily by following the falcon rules and being a good citizen and/or role model Falcon wings are accumulated and turned in for rewards Bucket Fillers- Earned for outstanding moments of citizenship or leadership Dollars earned for weekly homework

Morning Arrival

    School doors open at 7:15.

Front of school circle drive is only for day care, buses, and special needs children.

School begins at 7:45. If you child arrives to the classroom after 7:45 they must to go the office for a tardy slip. 5 th tardy – 45 minute detention before school

Breakfast

    It is a federal guideline that students must have a juice or fruit on their tray in order to receive breakfast at no cost.

Students will be charged for individual items.

Students must be in the classroom by 7:45 even if they are having breakfast. Students must know their student ID to get through the line quickly. Please practice if they do not know it well.

Snack Time

      Please precut fruit Easy to eat snacks that are healthy(no chips, donuts, etc.) and do not require utensils No nuts please We encourage water bottles with a sports top Only water is allowed during class time (no powder additives)

Lunch

       11:25-11:55 We will send students with money first thing in the morning to deposit into account. Students are not allowed to take food and/or drinks out of the cafeteria unless it’s in their lunch kit.

See cafeteria about adding “no snacks” to students account. (or limiting) You may not bring food for other students and only your student may sit with you.

Students earn Cafeteria Hero tickets every day when they are behaving well in the cafeteria.

Dismissal

  

If your child is a car rider:

Please have your visor sign with their name and grade level visible to staff as you wait in line to pick up your child/children.

Please raise your visor or remove the visor sign once your child/children are in the car. Without this visor, you will have to go to the front office to pick up your child. This is to keep our children as safe as possible. You must use the school approved visor sign.

 

If your child is a walker:

Students will be walked to the bike racks where you can meet them or they have to continue to walk home. Students will only be allowed to cross streets at the cross walk.

Change of Transportation

Send note to school that morning OR please email /call BOTH teachers or office before 2:00

Absences

 Send a written note to school with child’s name, grade, and teacher as well as an explanation of absence.  Graded makeup work will not be sent home. Student must make up graded work at school.

Study Sheet

  Each Friday a homework study sheet will be sent home for the next week. Each night students have the following activities to complete:     Study math facts Study Spelling Words Read 20 minutes There will also be a short math assignment to be completed as well.

Take home folders

    CSR = correct, sign, and return. Papers that are below a 70 must be corrected. They will be stapled to the conduct sheet at the end of the week. Only 3 papers below a 70 will be allowed to be corrected per subject, per nine weeks.

Check folder nightly for important notes.

STAR Math/Reading

    Students take three universal screenings a year to asses their reading/ math fluency level.

Our goal is for all students to be above the 50 th percentile Students who fall below the 25th percentile for reading or the 40 th percentile for math will be entered into a Tiering program You will be receiving your student’s first reports soon

READING:

  Reader’s Workshop Guided Reading- groups pulled weekly but no books will come home.

  HW – Library Books- 20 min. each night sign log, possible projects, occasional misc., STAAR Library books must be returned daily. Forgot book? Read something at home.

WRITING:

 Writer’s workshop – celebrations  Journal entries  Portfolios

SPELLING:

 Phonics based lists

Miss Moore’s Class

Math

Daily warm-up –Target Math, Partner Problems, and teacher created activities    Math Stations – reinforce skills being taught through games and group work. Teacher meets with small groups during this time to reteach skills.

Daily Think Aloud- Teacher models her thinking for students Math Thinking Journals –Students record their thinking, take notes, and keep information in their journal. These stay in class and will come home at the end of the year.

Science

 Science Thinking Journal- Students record science lessons, take notes, create diagrams, etc.  We use our newly adopted textbook, STEMscopes, and online resources

Math at Home

     Homework- Assignment given every Friday and due the next Friday Math Fact practice- Students should be practicing their addition/subtraction facts at home (Should already be mastered) Multiplication coming soon!

Timez Attack- Research based program used at school to master math facts and can be downloaded at home Websites and Apps- available on Miss Moore’s website Extra Practice Problems- coming soon to website!

Volunteering

   All parents must have a background check completed before being allowed to volunteer for school functions.

These are available in your student’s registration packet and online.

Birthdays and Food

 Birthday Party List- Will be sent home soon  Passing out birthday invitations or special food is not allowed at school

Extra Supplies

   Students frequently lose supplies. Some things your students may run out of this year: Glue sticks, pencils/erasers, colored pencils/crayons It would be useful for students to have a handheld pencil sharpener Students are also allowed to have colored pencils if they prefer those over crayons

STAAR

 New state assessment  4 hour time limit   Scantrons in third grade More in depth questions, all word problems in math, reading passages with questions   Math STAAR test – Tuesday April 21st Reading STAAR test - Wednesday April 22nd   We will take benchmarks throughout the year to assess readiness.

STAAR Parent Meeting will be coming next semester!
