Curriculum

 Life Science  Scientific Method  Graphing  Cells  Classification  Human Body Systems  Ecology  Fossils

Tests & Quizzes



70% of the grade



Test Days are Wednesdays and/or Fridays

 All tests and quizzes will be preannounced

Labs



10% of the grade

 Labs are graded on a point system  Before participating in any lab activities, a signed safety sheet must be returned  Zero tolerance policy for not following safety rules  Group work, but conclusions done individually



Homework & Journals 10% of the grade

 Graded on a point system  Given every Monday-Thursdays  Homework will not be accepted more than 1 day late  Short reading and writing assignments  Extended responses will have rubric for grading  Reading comprehension questions will be graded on a point system

Projects



5% of the grade

 At least one project assigned per marking period  Includes a small oral presentation  Graded according to a rubric

Science Symposium

 All Honors Students are required to successfully complete a symposium project  Background Research and an Experiment

Participation & Notebook



5% of the grade

 Being in your seat and working on your Do Now when the bell rings  Prepared for Class  Focused  Active Involvement  Notebooks are graded once a marking period  Organize according to the Notebook Guide Sheet with five dividers

Absences

 Bring in a note to the Main Office upon return  Student is responsible for finding out the work they missed upon return  You may contact Mrs. Ferrigno to get Team work  Attendance at extra help may be required to make up work

Extra Help

 Mrs. Ferrigno Mondays at 3:05 PM and Thursdays at 7:35 AM in Room 235  Passes can be obtained the day before  Parents can write a note that morning if a pass is forgotten
