Creating Custom
Weldment Profiles

Locate Weldment Profiles
• First locate where the weldment profiles are
stored
• Open Solidworks >> Options >> File Locations
>> Select Weldment Profiles from list
• The folder that contains the profiles will be listed
below
• Remember this location
• Close Window

Open Old Profile
• Select File >> Open >> Find location of profiles
>> Select type of profile

Open Old Profile
• In this case I will be creating a new pipe profile
• Open any file
Must Select “All Files”
to see the files

Save Old Profile
• Save the open file to the desktop with new name

Edit New Profile
• Edit the sketch in the profile to the desired
dimensions or shape

Insert New Profile
• Save the new profile
• Move file from the desktop to the same folder
you opened the old profile from
Custom Weldment Profiles
Using New Profile
• The new custom profile will now be usable when
creating structural members
