Emeritus Professor Geoff Scott: 2014 National Senior Teaching Fellow University of Western Sydney 10th October 2014, 1.00pm, Fullwood House, The Park University of Gloucestershire “Developing and Assessing Graduates who are ‘Work Ready Plus” UNU RCE Severn has the pleasure of hosting Prof Geoff Scott. The seminar will give an update on developments underway around the world to ensure that the graduate outcomes we are giving focus to are the ones that most count for the coming decades of the 21st century. Particular attention will be given to the development of graduates who are not just work ready for today but work ready PLUS for tomorrow – people who are sustainability literate, change implementation savvy, inventive and who have a considered position on the tacit assumptions driving the 21st century development agenda, assumptions such as growth is good; consumption is happiness; ICT is the answer and globalisation is great. Included will be a review of the top ranking capabilities of successful early career graduates in nine professions. Prof Scott has expertise in Higher Education and Sustainability. From 2004 – 12 he was Pro-Vice Chancellor (Quality) and Professor of Higher Education as well as Executive Director of Sustainability and Professor of Higher Education at UWS. He has led an international study of turnaround leadership for sustainability in universities. Alongside leading the UWS Sustainability initiative and establishing RCEGreater Western Sydney Prof Scott is a member of the Advisory Council of the Sustainable Futures Academy in Salzburg; a former director of the Australian Council for Educational Research; a HE advisor and quality auditor in many countries; a Fellow of the Australian College of Education & a recipient of the Australian Higher Education Quality Award. Geoff’s visit to the UK aims to explore academic quality enhancement and the assurance of achievement standards in HE with a view to developing an international network in this area.
