Finance Report PELICAN’s finances are reviewed each year by the Vermont and Pennsylvania Insurance Departments Information is also filed with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Finance Report As of 12-31-14, PELICAN had $20,077,177 in assets. Liabilities were $4,742,064 This leaves $15,335,112 in member equity (of which $5 million is initial capital from the IGT) Finance Report In 2014, $2,313,411 net premium was earned Expenses were $1,781,107 Investment earnings were $837,661 Net Income of $1,069,767 Finance Report For 2015 we expect premium revenue of $1,936,424. This includes a pass through of $147,162 to MCare. 2015 saw a 40% reduction in MCare charges. Operations Report $500,000 Dividend For the sixth year in a row, the PELICAN SAC declared a dividend The SAC returned $500,000 in surplus to subscribers The amount of each subscriber dividend is based on annual SSA allocations Operations Report Flat Rate Renewal for 2015: Skilled bed remains $350 per bed Independent Living is $87.50 (25% of skilled) Assisted Living / Personal Care is $175 (50% of skilled) Operations Report Flat Rate Renewal for 2015: Adult Day Care is $35 (10%) Based MCare on avg. number of clients daily rates saw a 40% decrease Operations Report PELICAN Membership Eligibility: Any home which is a PACAH member (voting or associate) is eligible to apply for PELICAN membership Homes can be county owned, nonprofit, or for-profit Operations Report Loss Control Credit Program Up to 5% credit toward the next year Training and Education (1%) On-site loss control visit and safety committee (1%) Timely incident, claim and lawsuit reporting (1%) Attendance at PACAH Conference (2%) Operations Report Recent SAC Meetings: August 19, 2014 in Vermont January 29, 2015 in Harrisburg Next meeting is on May 14, 2015 via conference call Operations Report New to PELICAN! Kane Centers Terry Brennan, Adminstrator, Berks Heim Nursing Home PELICAN SAC Election Each Subscriber has one vote We will accept nominations now from the floor If more than three are nominated, we will use written ballots 2015 PELICAN Awards Recognizing an exceptional job of claims reporting 2015 Awards PELICAN Claims Award Winner This award has been renamed in honor of Amy McElroy, Risk Manager for John J. Kane Regional Centers. Amy passed away in 2012.
