An unmistakable bird of coastal water Famous for its huge bill with expanding pouch.

One of the world’s larges birds. 5-8KG.
WINGSP UP TO 3M. BENEATH IT’S LONG, FLATTENED BILL IS A BRIGHT YELLOW ORANGE POUCH FOR FEEDING.
HABITAT
Salt bays, beaches, ocean. Shallow waters along coast.
Sheltered bays Strays may appear on freshwater lakes inland.
Behavior
Quiet animal Likes plunging into water and coming to surface with fish in its bill. Sometimes scavenges and will become tame.
DIET
Fish Menhaden Smelt Anchovies Also some crustaceans
NESTING
First breeds at the age 3 years or older. They make the nest on ground or cliff of island, or on low trees such a mangroves.
They lay 3 eggs, sometimes 2 or 4. It is incubated by both sexes,roughly 28-30 days.
They live 12-14 years in the wild.
