Contact Chris Ley ([email protected]) SALARIES • Classroom teachers are paid on a single spine salary scale • The incremental date for progression up the spine is 1 September • Placement on the spine is determined by School Governors SALARY SCALE – Classroom Teachers As at September 2008 (outside London and the fringe) M1 £20,627 M2 £22,259 M3 £24,048 M4 £25,898 M5 £27,939 M6 £30,148 EXCELLENT TEACHER • Minimum - £37,672 • Maximum - £48,437 SEN ALLOWANCES • Special Needs 1 - £1,912 • Special Needs 2 - £3,778 PLACEMENT ON SCALE • Experience (extra points on the pay scale for classroom teachers - discretionary) • Mainly working with SEN pupils • Recruitment and retention payment can be awarded as a lump sum or periodic payments THRESHOLD • On reaching the top of the Main Scale teachers may apply to cross the threshold onto the upper pay scales • Assessment against national standards • Teachers will be required to have completed the previous two performance management reviews to show how they meet the postthreshold standards UPPER PAY SCALE • • • U1 U2 U3 - £32,660 - £33,870 - £35,121 TEACHING AND LEARNING RESPONSIBILITIES (TLR) • Awarded to teachers undertaking additional responsibility – e.g. Head of Department • 2 payments – TLR 1 & TLR 2 • TLR2 - £2,422 -
