Updates to the Uniform Complaint Procedure (UCP) Policy Fontana Unified School District Instructional & Student Services Fall 2012

What is UCP?

 The Uniform Complaint Procedure is the method districts use to resolve any complaints alleging unlawful discrimination in district programs and activities based on information; the actual race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, or genetic perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics

       Adult Education Consolidated Categorical Aid Programs  Title I and III  EIA-LEP  GATE Migrant Education Career & Technical Education Child Development Programs Indian Education Special Education Programs

What is the Change?

 Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying must now be included in all documentation that refers to unlawful discrimination.

Why change?

   Assembly Bill 9 or “Seth’s Law” mandates that harassment, intimidation, and bullying is unlawful in school programs and activities FUSD will be reviewed by CDE as part of the Federal Programs Monitoring process The district’s UPC policies and procedures must reflect the most current legislation
