• Structured learning – updating sessions or courses,
e-modules, critical reading.
• Discussion with others – regular meetings with other
clinicians.

Masterclass in Intrauterine techniques
• Objective – provide an update for doctors and nurses who
fit IUDs in General Practice.
• Structured but informal – maximum 20
• Self assessment questionnaire based on current Faculty
guidelines.
• Answers discussed by group and facilitators.
• Workshop – small group work with advice from trainers
Workshop
•‘Hands on’ – model uterus, different copper IUDs and IUS.
•Equipment – discussion about instruments, insertion packs
etc.
•Record keeping, audit and performance review.
•Opportunity to discuss with colleagues and trainers.
•Information about Faculty Guidelines , recertification
requirements.
Was it successful ?
• Feedback positive.
• Several GPs re-accredited under ‘amnesty’ arrangements
for DFSRH and Letters of Competence.
• Group learning and the opportunity to discuss with peers
was very popular.
• Requests for another session from GPs who were unable
to attend.
