The World is Different

Our School Must Produce TechnologyCapable Kids
To live, learn, and work successfully in an
increasingly complex and information-rich
society, students must use technology
effectively. But what is effective technology use?
Before examining the technology
component of a lesson, let’s look
at content.
"Knowing content" is not sufficient in itself –
rather, students must apply knowledge to:
•
•
•
•
•
construct new understandings,
solve problems,
make decisions,
develop products, and
communicate
Technology can be the tool to
facilitate this type of learning

The NETS Project can
help educators know:
• WHAT technology skills should be woven into
the curricular fabric of our schools . . .
• WHEN such skills should be taught . . .
• HOW technology can support
these new learning
environments . . .
Today’s Workshop
• We are going to be role-playing
• Dino and Angie will play the parts of
teachers
• You will perform the roles of students
• As teachers, we will present a topic and
assign you a project to complete
• As students, you are to use all the resources
available to students to create the project
Imagine You Are….
