We are a company that is already experienced in providing workers in the UK
We hold a licence from the UK’s Gangmasters Licensing Authority
We are still quite new to agriculture, so we’re determined to earn a good
reputation
We come with good references from existing UK labour-users with whom you
may speak
We have a large pool of suitable labour – people who have been born and
bred within agricultural communities in Bulgaria (part of the EU)
Because of that background, our workforce can – and will – hit the ground
running!
We think that we work even harder than the Poles!
Our rates are very competitive
We try to offer 100% flexibility
We provide an agency supply or employment
service to suit your needs

V V Workers offers jobs, careers and places in the agricultural community
Within the agricultural sector there are many different jobs. Each of those
jobs has its own specific purpose and responsibilities
Yet the overall purpose of agriculture is to grow plants and raise animals –
in order to make profit
Some jobs might involve heavy work – perhaps preparing and fertilizing soil
in order to grow crops
Other jobs might be much lighter – and could involve growing flowers or
sorting produce into categories for consumers
There is usually a supervisor who manages both workers and processes,
making decisions and giving instructions that must be followed
Our structured and easy-to-follow job descriptions explain what has to be
done – and how to do it
Our agreements are clear. So labour-users always
know what to expect from our workers. And workers
know what they must deliver
DUTIES for LIVESTOCK WORKERS:








Workers who are responsible for livestock (also known as ‘animal
husbandry’) may look after common animals such as cattle, sheep,
chickens, deer and pigs
But, increasingly, those animals may be more exotic. So they could include
buffalo, ostrich, lamas and wild boar – or more!
Workers will be responsible for providing food and drink for such animals
Workers must ensure that the environments in which the animals live are
clean and safe
Workers must usually weigh and treat the animals
Workers must monitor livestock for sickness or injury
– and report any worries immediately
Workers must ensure that the farm products are fit to take to the market
Workers must observe responsibilities to their own safety and that of other
people around them – on the farm and, if relevant, on the roads
The ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Agricultural workers typically perform manual labour. So an education and
experience are not usually required. But the key abilities that workers need are:







A determination to start early, on time, and to work long hours when conditions
allow. This especially important during planting and harvesting times
Physical strength and endurance
The capacity to work hard
Good manual dexterity
The ability to follow safety procedures – even when tired
An interest in the work and an enthusiasm for it!
A sense of responsibility!
RISKS in DAILY LIFE:









The life of an agricultural worker is often long and hard. Workers must be
medically fit – and healthy – to work
Workers must be trained and/or have experience in using any equipment,
especially if it is heavy or potentially dangerous
Workers who are unsure about how to use equipment
must say so – and ask for instructions before they touch it!
Care must be taken when working around other
people (other workers and members of the public)
Care must be taken when working near all animals, especially since some animals
can be dangerous
Workers must understand and protect themselves against risks from pesticides
and other chemical agents – as well as noxious risks such as slurry (animal waste)
Workers must be aware of common dangers on farms – e.g. fires and grain stores
Workers must also limit risks to the environment – especially water supplies
Workers should always know about any hazards in their working environment
before they start to work
PAYMENTS:









The average pay for agricultural workers varies greatly
Farm labourers usually earn around £ 6 an hour
Animal breeders can earn up to £ 9 an hour
Your pay will be at least the legal minimum wage in the UK for the work
(this can vary according to age)
Deductions will only be those which, by law, have to be made (for tax etc)
Workers are always given a pay-slip which itemizes everything. This is a
legal document
Farm work usually has few other benefits
Some labour-users supply seasonal workers with accommodation and food
Our workers are paid promptly
