INCENTIVES TO AGRICULTURE

8. Incentives:

• There are various incentives (taxes, allowances and duties) covering income/profits from farming, agricultural machinery, farm improvements, and imports of a number of products for agriculture.

7

AGRO-INPUTS

9. Opportunities exist in the production and supply of:  Seeds  Fertilizers  Agro-chemicals  Veterinary drugs and vaccines 8

COMMERCIALIZATION OF AGRICULTURAL LANDS

10. Farm Block Development:  Government has embarked on a programme to open up viable Farm Blocks in various parts of the country to be involved in primary production and value addition.

 Government to provide basic infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and electrification.  Farm Block design– one core venture (10,000 ha), commercial farms (1,000 – 5,000 ha), Smallholdings (30 – 300 ha) 9

AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT

12. Machinery and Equipment:

 Opportunities are available in the production and supply of farm machinery and equipment e.g. ploughs, planters, tractors, hatcheries for poultry production, and irrigation equipment.
