VALiD 5 SELF ADVOCACY VALID aims to empower people with disability to: Have control over the decisions and choices which affect their lives. VALiD 6 SYSTEMIC ADVOCACY VALID aims to empower people with disability and their families to: Inform and influence the policies and practices of disability service agencies, governments and other authorities. What is families role? • Session 2. Effective Communication • Session 3. What is a Plan & Why have one? • Session 4. Moving from a plan to funding • Session 5. Promoting Empowerment • Session 6.
