Advocacy for Housing With
Services Models
• Climate for Senior Housing funding is not
good
• This means we need to advocate even
more strenuously
• Housing With Services is a movement…
we can’t wait until the climate improves
• The financial cost of not acting is great,
because things will get worse
Advocacy for Housing With
Services Models
• Housing With Services is a new approach
to service delivery.
• Our advocacy strategy needs to reflect
that our approach is new.
• We cannot expect other constituencies
and decision makers to support the new
approach, at least initially.
Why are we doing this?
• The Tsunami is coming! We’re not ready!
• HWS saves money: Front end investment
saves a lot on the back end.
• Housers need to Get in the Loop!
• Mission-driven housers have responsibility
to residents and their families.
• People want to stay at home.
• Aging in Place only works with community
based services.
