LOVE THE
DARK
You don’t have to go to great lengths to keep your home
safe this winter. Preventing a burglary need not break
the bank or cost the earth, follow these simple steps
 For a penny a day you can leave a low-energy light bulb on midafternoon to late evening.
 Use light timers when out for the evening or leaving the house for an
extended period of time.
 As the darker nights draw in, leave burglars out in the dark.
 Always lock doors even when inside your home, or out of the house for
a short time.
 Set an alarm when leaving the house.
 Keep your valuables out of view.
 Register your valuables on immobilise.com so property can be
returned to its rightful owner if stolen.
 Never leave a spare key outside your house, burglars know all the
usual hiding spots.
 Keep bins away from windows when they’re not being used as they
can be used as a climbing aid for burglars
 Set up or join a Home Watch scheme in your neighbourhood.
Over 80% of all domestic burglaries during October onwards
happen during the darker nights.
LIGHT UP…. and leave burglars out in the cold this winter
