YEAR 6 INDUCTION
Parents’ Information
Evening
Thursday 3rd July 2014
GENERAL
ADMINISTRATION
•The
tutor is the first point of contact
for pastoral issues
Arrangements for the first day of school in
September 2014:
•Students
arrive for 8.40 a.m
•Assembly 8.45 a.m in Gym
•School day ends at 3.20 p.m
ATTENDANCE
•Please
inform school immediately if there is
a change of address, telephone or email
address so that we can amend details on the
school system
•It
is essential that we can make contact
with parents for reasons of safeguarding
•If
your child is absent from school, please
inform us on the absence phone line before
9.30 a.m for every day of the absence.
(Telephone number in booklet given to
students on Monday)
REPORTING AND
MONITORING
Three data trawls take place 3 times
throughout the year. Staff provide the
‘working at’ level for your child in their
subject and a grading of 1-4 for:
•Approach
to learning
•Participation
•Homework
•Organisation
•Behaviour

•We
are replacing our old online Parent
Gateway with a new one.
•This will give you access to progress data
and attendance.
•Further details will be available in
September

•Parents’
Evening for Year 7
will take place in June 2015
•The
Year 7 Annual Report
will go home to parents in
the Spring Term; specific
diary dates are being
presently finalised.
STUDENT PLANNERS
•These
are used as a two way means of
communication between home and school
•School
policies will need signing during
the first two weeks at school
•The
planner contains uniform lists, a
record of short detentions, notes from
staff, timetable and additional subject
information
HOMEWORK
•There
is a homework timetable issued to
each tutor group at the start of the
year. This will be recorded in the student
planner during the first few days
•Students
usually receive approximately
2-3 subjects per night with
approximately half an hour to be spent on
each subject

YEAR 7 CAMP
•Takes
place at Boreatton Park
•The
site includes an old mansion
and additional accommodation in
modern log cabins, the site is
owned and run by PGL
•Students
will take part in a
variety of team building activities
YEAR 7 INDUCTION
DAY
MONDAY 7TH JULY
•Students
should arrive at Walton for a
9.15 a.m start in the Main School Hall
•Some students will have a PE taster
lesson; they do not need a PE kit.
•Any student making their own way home
must have a completed permission slip
from their parent. This was at the
bottom of the induction letter
previously sent to parents
•Additional
letters can be found on the
school website – ‘Introduction Letter
for New Parents’
