The Hiring Process
Step 1: resignation or retirement
Step 2: principal writes job posting
Step 3: position is posted for 10 school days both internally
and on PAREAP
Step 4: principal and team conducts a paper screen to
identify qualified candidates
Step 5: interviews are conducted at the building level – this
year, multiple bldg interviews were held for a few
positions
Step 6: candidate is selected and recommended to
Superintendent and Board for approval

 Goal/Purpose:
This program is designed to provide planned experiences and
activities for new teachers in order to increase their skills and
their understanding of the programs and services in the
Palisades School District.

Summer institute – August 16, 17, 18
Workshops run by district administrators and teacher staff
developers. Topics:
 Technology
 Supervision and Evaluation
 SAS Training
 Classroom Environment/Restorative Practices
 Differentiated Instruction
 Ethics and Confidentiality
 Human Resources
 Curriculum/course planning
 Building-specific activities
 This year, teachers blogged and used a “back channel”


 Other Activities:

Needs assessment, progress reports, induction logs

Ongoing support and collaboration with mentor


Note: This is the second year that the program has been extended
into teachers’ second year of service. Mentors and mentees engage
in peer coaching and quality dialogue about teaching and learning
Quarterly teacher induction meetings
