Completing a
Master Promissory Note
Step 1:
Go to
www.bc.edu/dl
and click on
www.StudentLoans.gov
Step 2:
Sign in to the website using the
following information:
•Social Security Number
•The first two letters of last name
•Date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy)
•FAFSA Pin Number
Step 3:
You will be asked to verify your
personal information.
Enter an updated e-mail
address, choose whether or
not you would like to receive
notifications via e-mail, and
click Update.
It should now say “E-Corr
Option Updated Successfully”
above the Update button.
Step 4:
Click on
“Complete Master Promissory Note”
Step 5:
Click on the type of loan you
would like:
•Subsidized/Unsubsidized
•Graduate PLUS
•Parent PLUS
Step 6:
On the Personal Information page, fill
in all the required information.
Providing your Drivers License number
is optional.
Select Boston College as your school
This should take 1-2 minutes.
Then click “Continue”
Step 7:
Provide two references;
the references must reside in
different houses, but may
be related to you.
Read the information provided
on the website for further
instructions on choosing your
references.
This will take about 5 minutes,
though it may take longer if it
is necessary to decide upon
references.
Step 8:
Spend the next 15-20 minutes reading
through the Terms and Conditions of
the Master Promissory Note.
It is necessary to look at each section
in order to go on to the next step.
After reading the Terms and
Conditions, check the box at the
bottom of the screen, certifying that
you have read and understand the
Terms and Conditions, and then click
“Continue”
Step 9:
Review all information on the screen,
then type your first, middle, and last
names into the boxes at the bottom of
the page and click “Sign”
It will say “Your signature has been
authenticated” and there will be a link
to an HTML copy of your Master
Promissory Note for you to review.
Click “Continue”
Step 10:
The Master Promissory Note is now complete.
Print a copy of it for your records.
