Died 2003 in Nashville, TN. (respiratory failure due to diabetes) Singer, Songwriter & Entertainer Genre labeled as Country, but with a sound of folk and rock and roll Recorded & Released “Hey Porter” and “Cry, Cry, Cry” as a debut single which instantly sent him to the top.

Mother’s hymns & listening to country music on the radio.

As a teenager he enjoyed writing songs, in High School he performed for the town’s local radio station.

He wanted to make his mom proud so he tried to create songs that made his mother proud.

Ernest Tubb, nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, American singer and songwriter. Marked the rise of the honky tonk style of music.

What Cash and his group, the Tennessee Two brought to the “Sun Sound” was a Spartan mix of guitar, standup bass and vocals that served as an early example of rockabilly.

She helped him get off drugs and saved his career. February of 1968 first Grammy duo in country music ‘Jackson’ March of 1968 they were married.
