 Aimed at covering aspects of curriculum
which is hard to cover in units
 Includes CTG teaching, Management of
bereavement, Perineal repair, Obstetric and
Gynae Simulation, Ultrasound
 60% evidence of attendance required
 13 days over two years
 Additonal days may be arranged but you
may need to self fund these
 Majority on a Friday
 When you complete your feedback you will
receive a certificate of attendance
 Upload certificate into your personal library
 If you cannot attend please respond to the
invite and ideally give a reason
(holiday/sick/on call)

 Six applications will get the opportunity to
present. Those not presenting can display a
poster
 Prizes and certificates presented on the day
 We want all trainees to present something
Study Leave
Entitled to up to a maximum of 30 days in a year (which is calculated
from the date of commencement of appointment or rotation)
Leave to sit necessary examinations is allowable but does not count
against the entitlement of study leave
Trainees in locum specialty posts, those in FTSTAs and LATs
exceeding three months are entitled to study leave pro rata
There is no entitlement to study leave for LAS appointments
Using your study leave
Approval rests with your Local Clinical Tutor
Applications should be received by your Clinical Tutor on the
appropriate form at least 6 weeks prior to the leave
Leave should not be taken within the first two weeks of a new
appointment
You must have an agreed personal development plan before applying
for Study Leave usually with your educational supervisor
Study Leave Amounts
Initial Study Leave Budget :
£860
This year no top slice but this may change.
Topsliced Study Leave is used by your specialty school to deliver centrally
run training days that you are required to attend.

LEADERSHIP
 Since 2010 all the specialty curricula plus foundation, have included
leadership competencies based on the Medical Leadership
Competency Framework
 KSS Deanery is very keen to help you develop these competencies as
they have been shown to be crucial to maintaining and improving
patient care and safety.
 There is an expectation that your supervisors will enable you to
undertake supervised learning opportunities in clinical leadership
 We would expect you to submit each year a workplace based
assessment which demonstrates you have been given constructive
feedback on your leadership competencies. Upload this to your
personal library. ARCP requirement.

 Integral part of your training
 Annual training day
 Miss Renata Hutt is the lead for Ultrasound
in KSS (Royal Surrey Hospital Guildford)
 Ultrasound simulators are present at
Medway and St Richards. You are welcome
to use these by prior arrangement with
Tutors
 You need to have completed basic modules
MRCOG part 1
 Twice yearly exam (march and Sept)
 Need to complete before moving to ST3
 Anatomy course and basic sciences course
planned for January 2015
