Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission Great Lakes Industrial Technology Summit October 15, 2009 Northwest Commission • Established in 1967, the Northwest Commission is an Oil City-based, non-profit regional resource for economic and business development as well as community development and planning. • Funding for the Northwest Commission comes from local, state, and federal levels of government. Northwest Commission • The Northwest Commission provides economic and business development with programs such as government contracting, business financing, international marketing assistance, business attraction and a Keystone Innovation Zone program (KIZ). • We also provide community development and planning such as transportation, Keystone Opportunity Zones (KOZ), geographic information systems, technology assistance, municipality outreach programs and energy programs. Northwest Commission International Marketing Program Pennsylvania is divided into 10 Regional Export Networks (RENs) Serve as regional service providers. Inform and counsel Pennsylvania companies on all aspects of exporting. Promote the resources and programs that are available through the Commonwealth. Northwest Commission International Marketing Program Provide Export Technical Assistance - Shipping and Documentation, Tariff Classifications, Standards / Regulatory Requirements and Export Licensing Requirement, Export Price Quotations and Terms of Sale / Payment Methods, Packaging. - Training and Networking events such as our Breakfast with the Pros (quarterly event), and Technical Training Events (offered throughout the year). It provides tool for on-line tracking and completion of requests. The work order is a formal request by a PA company, deemed export ready by Northwest Commission, for a specific service offered by the Foreign Trade Office. There is a limit of three work orders at a time, per client.
