MMO formally established 1 April 2010 Defra consultation on marine plan areas within the English Inshore and Offshore Marine Regions June/July – announcement re areas and consultation on draft MPS and marine planning guidance Timing – 2 marine plans every 2 years, taking 24-30 months each Devon & Severn IFCA to be established Defra Consultation - establishing IFC districts and Authorities

• • • • • Duty on MMO to exercise functions in a manner that is consistent and co-ordinated Duty to give notice to related planning authorities Duty for marine plans for related marine plan areas to be compatible MMO Framework Document – MMO to work closely with devolved administrations where responsibility for adjacent sea areas, joined up approach – WAG can ask MMO to undertake functions on its behalf Formal Agreement - Concordat (agreed 2010?)
