What are College Credit Now
Programs? (a.k.a. Dual
Enrollment/Dual Credit)
College Credit Now are programs which
provide opportunities for Georgia’s
high school students to take collegelevel courses and earn concurrent
credit toward a high school diploma
and a college degree

CCSD College Credit Now Programs
ACCEL –a program offered to students who wish to take
college-level coursework for credit toward both high
school and college graduation requirements. Students
must be working toward a degree, courses taken from the
5 core academic content areas, student can be part-time
or full-time
Move On When Ready – requires an eligible 11th or 12th
grade student the opportunity to be full-time (12 -15
credit hours) and take ALL of their courses through a postsecondary institution . Students receive high school and
college credit for completing graduation and high school
diploma requirements; students are prohibited from
taking classes at their high school.

Important Information and Facts
• Different programs for different student needs
• Hours do not count toward HOPE cap
• Must meet eligibility requirements of program, local school/system,
and post-secondary institution
• HS Counselor, student, and parent must have advisement session and
sign documentation (usually in March or April)
• Courses must meet graduation requirements
• No summer courses permitted
Important Information and Facts
• Must be resident of GA for 12 prior consecutive months
• Up to 15 hours allowable per semester
• Student responsible for all costs not covered by program
• Duplicated high school core credits are for elective credit only
(sometimes with Science)
• EOC test required for all dual courses with high school assessment
requirements (testing obligation is primary – Econ, US History)
• A .5 weight is added to all dual courses by GSFC when calculating
HOPE GPA

• Students who successfully complete a course(s) in a
post secondary institution through the College Credit
Now Programs shall receive (10 bonus points for its
AP equivalent or 5 bonus points for Honors classes)
whenever the college course taken is equivalent to an
Advanced Placement (AP) high school course
• Students participating in an College Credit Now
programs are eligible for Valedictorian or Salutatorian
recognition if they have attended and successfully
completed a minimum of two courses per semester
on the high school campus during both junior and
senior years

• f) Postsecondary semester hour credit shall be converted
to high school credit as follows:
• 1 to 2 semester hour course = .5 unit
• 3 to 5 semester hour course = 1.0 unit
• i) Except in instances where the post secondary
institution provides the student a numerical grade, the
correlation of student’s grades earned at the post
secondary institution and the secondary cumulative
grade point average shall be as follows:
A+ = 98
A = 95
A- = 92
B+ = 88
B = 85
B- = 82
C+ = 78
C = 75
C- = 72
D+ = 70
D = 70
D- = 70
F = 60
Accel Enrollment Process
1. Apply to the college and be accepted
2. Student must bring their acceptance letter to their
counselor
3. Student participates in HS registration (as if not DE)
4. Student/Parent Conference scheduled to complete the
CCSD/State forms, discuss schedule (usually in March or
April)
5. Student completes ACCEL application on-line via
GAcollege411.org
6. Student registers at the college for approved courses
7. Copy of student’s college schedule to their counselor to
verify correct courses have been selected
8. College Credit Now Coordinator completes high school
ACCEL application to approve funding
9. Start classes and rock on!

Enrollment Process
1. Student and parent/guardian have advisement
conference with high school counselor
a) Student completes Participation Permission Form and
MOWR Guidance Checklist.
b) High school and dual courses are selected to meet
graduation requirements.
2. Student takes copy of the course agreement to
college
3. College notifies student of acceptance and approval
of schedule
4. Student supplies their HS counselor with a copy of
acceptance letter and their college schedule
5. Students must remain full-time at college in good
academic standing or return to high school
• Not every student is the right match for College Credit Now
Programs – please review the handout on the back of the
agenda
• Students will be assigned an EHS TAA/Homeroom – much
school information is distributed via TAA/Homeroom so it is
important that your student be willing/able to maintain contact
with their assigned TAA teacher
• Bridge Bill participation is required – it is the responsibility of
the student to complete those activities regardless of where
they are attending classes
• Student must maintain contact with their counselor and not
wait until the last minute to tend to institutional requirements
