Architectural Control Committee – George Milliken
Due to the economy and the downturn in new construction and re-modeling we have been
asked mainly to assist with landscaping issues and some boundary and neighbor disputes.
We have been particularly pleased this year with the way that homeowners react to and accept
our decisions. Often a reminder and review of the relevant By-Laws is all it takes to resolve any
differences.
This past year one of the tree service companies , Archon, hired their own certified arborist. On
those occasions when your Committee disagrees with the tree company, we still require the
homeowner to pay for a second opinion from our own independent, unaffiliated arborist. This
removes the possibility of any conflict of interest on the part of the company-owned expert.
We must give a rousing vote of thanks to Holly Miller whose handling of homeowner's requests
and the Committee's decisions has been done with a high degree of courtesy, professionalism
and patience. And finally I would like to thank both those Board members who have
volunteered to help us resolve a small number of thorny issues, as well as my two stalwart
partners, Suzanne Sullivan and Mort Altman who have attended virtually every bi-weekly drivearound and subsequent decision-making meeting.
