National Managed Clinical Network • Concept first set out in the report of the Acute Services Review (June 1998) Defined as: “Linked groups of Health Professionals and organisations from primary, secondary, and tertiary care, working in a coordinated manner, unconstrained by existing professional and Health Board boundaries, to ensure equitable provision of high quality clinically effective services throughout Scotland”
(National Managed Clinical Network) • Comprehensive application process to NSAG. (submitted November 2005) - clinical arguments in support of network - data to support case - network description - teaching and research - arrangements for patient/carer input - costs and cost effectiveness
National Managed Clinical Network) • Final approval by National Services Division(Jan.2007) – approved by Chief Executives of all 14 Health Boards in Scotland (including financial support) • Approval by Health Minister • Network ”Live” April 2007 • Lead Clinician and Project Manager appointed • Steering group/subgroup leads/membership/objectives agreed
