A Traineeship in Europe
During your entire vocational study
you can obtain one Leonardo Grant
for a European Traineeship. You can
use this Grant for a Traineeship in
one of the following countries:
Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus,
Denmark, Germany, Estonia,
Finland, France, Greece, United
Kingdom, Hungary, Ireland, Italy,
Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania,
Luxembourg, Malta, Norway,
Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania,
Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey,
Czech Republic, Iceland and
Sweden.
Grant
The amount of money you get is dependent
on the country of destination and the duration
of your Traineeship. Once you have submitted
a financial plan, you will receive an advance in
your bank account. The rest of the money will
be paid out to you after your Traineeship.
You can receive a Grant if:
•The Traineeship is in a European country.
•The Traineeship period is at least 3 and at
most 26 continuous weeks.
Attention!
We advise to do a Traineeship for at
least 5 weeks as Traineeship
Supervisors are not interested in short
term placements. An exception is the
Sheep Traineeship.
If you break off your Traineeship or if you do
not fulfill your obligations both the advance
payment and the insurance premium have to
be refunded.
Insurance
'Bureau Buitenland‘ will arrange a special Student
Traineeship Insurance for you. If you click here you
will find a summary of cover. You receive a digital
insurance pass via e-mail. Keep this handy at all
times.
In case of damage or injury, you can contact the
insurance company directly (IPS-Lippmann).
Attention!
This only applies if you do a Traineeship within
Europe with a Leonardo Grant. In all other cases
you have to arrange for insurance yourself.
Public transport card
When you go abroad, you can
apply for a refund for your OVCard. To do this you have to
complete the form 'OVvergoeding buitenland' on the
website of the 'Duo-IB groep'.
Send your application at least
two months before departure.
The school administration can
sign the form for you.
You can use the refund for your
personal contribution.
Education Grant (Studiefinanciering)
During your Traineeship you keep
your Education Grant.
If you live with your parents you can
apply for a non-resident allowance for
this period. You should receive your
Grant 5 weeks before you leave,
provided you apply for this on time.
Please use this form.

the internet.

organizations below:

The Mentor
After the Training Session you have to
complete a CONTRACT IBPV form. You then
have to talk to your Mentor as he or she is the
person who needs to give permission for your
Traineeship. If your Mentor approves you can
complete the CONTRACT IBPV together. Take
this form to Bureau Buitenland.
During your Traineeship period, the Mentor is
your first point of contact. You and your
Mentor need to make arrangements regarding
how and when you stay in contact. If there is a
serious problem, your Mentor and Bureau
Buitenland will try to find a solution.
Homesickness
Sooner or later everybody will have some feeling of
homesickness. This is quite common. However, there are
ways to combat this:
> Be well prepared before you leave. Keep in mind that you
enter a different culture with different habits;
> Set up a chatbox or website to stay in touch with your
contacts (MSN, Hyves);
> Express your feelings to other trainees, colleagues and your
Traineeship Supervisor;
> Reduce the number of phone calls. One call per week is
enough, the remainder can be done per e-mail;
> Keep an online diary (waarbenjij.nu);
> Spend enough time on relaxation, sport is a good way to
relax;
> Keep up a healthy life style. Be careful with alcohol, it
reinforces negative feelings.
Receipt book
Costs to declare:
During your Traineeship period
you MUST save all receipts and
invoices, including your ticket and
boarding-pass. Keep all receipts
and invoices in a notebook and
add a serial number to each
invoice and receipt.
> Transportation costs;
> Accommodation costs;
> Cost of living;
> Cost for cultural trips.
Put an overview of all costs on
the first page. You MUST print
out this excel-file and attach it to
your notebook.
Costs you are NOT allowed to declare:
Private purchases, souvenirs, buying a
round in the pub, calling cards, etc.
After returning home the receipt
book should be handed in to
Bureau Buitenland.

•Hand it in to Bureau Buitenland.
•You will receive a Traineeship Agreement (POK).

What to take?
Here is a list of items that you may
wish to take with you.
tamelijk compleet is.
Health
Ensure in advance that you are
aware of the health risks in the
country of your destination. Is
it safe to drink tap water? Is it
sensible to bring a first aid kit?
Visit gezondopreis.nl for
answers to these questions.
Another possibility is to have
the vaccinations at home.
Click on thuisvaccinaties.nl
Please report at the GGD for
vaccinations. Compensation is
usually provided by your
health insurance.
Kijk
eens op deze sites.

Booking a flight
You can book a flight when all parties
involved have agreed: your Mentor, the
Traineeship Supervisor and Bureau
Buitenland. Your Traineeship Supervisor
can inform you which airport is most
convenient. If you have a Traineeship
outside Europe, ensure that your work
permit and visa are in order.
The application for a visa can be
easily arranged through the Visum
Buro.
Do not book your flight straight away,
compare prices and pay attention to
additional costs charged by the airline.
Translations
