Current challenges and
recommendations for developing
Polish pork production
• Main barriers to increase production and
efficiency and what can be done/what need to
be overcome these barriers for development of
production?
• What role do subsidiaries play in this context?
• The barriers to increase production are on both
sides - dependent and-independent on pig
breeders and producers.
18
The reasons dependent on producers
and breeders are:
• Insufficient attention of producers on the
efficiency of production.
• Most of producers underestimate the
importance of economic calculation in the
production.
• Low investmets level – to low , to follow up
the competitors in the development and
improvement of basic stocks and livestock
buildings
19
• Lack of professionalism on the principles in
organization and management of production
• Low level of the protection of animal health
• Low activity of chambers of agriculture,
among other things created by the producers
of pigs, and associations operating in the field
of agriculture.
• Shortage of adequately trained successors,
which is above all due to the lack of proper
perspective.
• Lack of horizontal and vertical integration.
20
What should be done to improve
pork production in Poland ?
21
• Change of obsolete structure of piglets farms
in Poland and introduction of effective policy
toward consolidation.
• Constant technology and quality improvement
• Coordination of governmental policy and
promotion of Polish products abroad
• Fostering education
22
• Sharing experiences and risk diversification
• Production adjustment to market
requirement.
• Efficient management and agriculture and
efficiency-driven business practices.
• Financing issues - high cost of financial service
23
• The development of the production of piglets
• Term contracts
• Determination of the level of profitability
• Promotion of quality systems
• Creation of favourable legal conditions.
