Course Selection Process

Step 1

 Check OSSD requirements by referring to your Status Sheet.

Step 2

 Research: colleges / universities and prerequisites.

Step 3

 Complete on-line course selection, print Sign-off Sheet, return it to you homeroom teacher.

Selecting Math Courses

MCR 3U1 - Prerequisite - MPM2D1 - Prerequisite for : MDM 4U1 / MHF 4U1 / MCV 4U1*  MCF 3M1 - Prerequisite - MPM2D1 / MFM2P1 - Prerequisite for only one Gr. 12 U math: MDM 4U1  MBF 3C1 - Prerequisite - MPM2D1 / MFM2P1 -Required for Gr.12 MAP 4C1 (College/Apprentice)  MEL 3E1 - Prerequisite - MPM1D1 / MFM1P1 / MAT2L1

Cooperative Education

 You MUST have at least 16 credits and a good attendance record.

 Select CWE 2O9  Complete a separate application form available in the Co-op office or the Guidance office.  All applicants will be interviewed.

 Co-op is a 2 credit program and counts as 2 course selections.

Peer Helping

• • • • You MUST have at least 16 credits and a good academic record.

Assume the program DOES NOT exist and select 8 other courses.

Complete a separate application form available in the Co-op office or in Guidance.

Applicants will be interviewed before being accepted into the program.

Yearbook Course

 Assume the program DOES NOT exist and select 8 other courses.

 Yearbook is a 2 credit course. One grade 11 credit and one grade 12 credit. You must commit to BOTH sections.

 Complete a separate application form available in the Art Department or Guidance.

 Applicants will be interviewed by the yearbook teacher.

Musical Theatre

• • • Assume the program DOES NOT exist and select 8 other courses.

Entrance to this course will be based on an audition/application.

Students interested in this course must complete a supplementary application form available through the Arts Department or the Guidance Office.

Course Subject Fees  Be aware of any course fees required!

 Courses with large course fees may require a non- refundable deposit in the Spring.

Click anywhere in the box to get a listing of courses to choose in that discipline.

Choosing Elective Courses

Click anywhere in the box to open a menu of options.

You will be able to choose courses by Grade level OR…by discipline

Hover over the blue dot for important course information.

Choose an elective following the same process as your compulsories.

Hover over the red dot for important course selection information. You CANNOT submit if you have a red alert.

Review the alerts/warnings for that course.

Failed a Compulsory Course?

 If you do not plan to attend summer school you must add it as one of your course selections for next year.

  If you are planning on attending summer school, you can add the course(s) that you wish to upgrade in the “Other Credit” section located below the SUBMIT button. In May, come to guidance to sign up for summer school.

Summer School?

To accelerate – 4 weeks To repeat or upgrade – 2 weeks

If you are unsure of a course, take advantage of the Elective Course Fair and ask a teacher from that subject area what is taught!

Submit Your Courses!

Click on “Submit” once you have completed all of your selections.

Once you “submit” you cannot go back in to change selections.

We will meet with all students who submit their courses on time in April/May to review your selections. If you book an appointment prior to this, you will not be seen a second time.

Print the “Course Request Sign-off Sheet,” get it signed and return it to your homeroom teacher.

No Internet Access at Home?

The school library is available at lunch for your convenience.
