Validation of EC data
• Quality of data is the key to success of EC
• Purpose of EC is to provide accurate numbers of
Establishments and workers of the activities
covered
• As per 5th EC number of Establishments with 10
or more workers were just 1.5 % rest 98.5 % were
in unorganised sector
• Own account Establishments/enterprises ,
constituting major portion of the total
establishments are generally missed leading to
under counting .
Instructions for Enumerators
• Go round the EB
• Identify the boundaries, landmarks, location of
houses with the help of LM and AHL
• Include/ LIST all the new houses, which have
come up after 2011 Census by giving new
number, after the last number contained in LM
• Cover each establishment and household
• From each hh collect information about
establishments run from the house and cover
each enterprenuer running establishments
without fixed structure
Instructions for enumerator
• Use Arabic numerals 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 avoid
numerals in regional language
• Use ball point/ not Gel pen or ink pen
• Write in the centre of the box
• Avoid over writing
• For correction cross the line and use fresh line
• Don’t fold the schedules
• Keep schedules in separate plastic folders
Instructions for enumerator
• Check the schedule and ensure it has been
correctly filled in
• Totals in ALL 10 boxes( A to J) at the end of
page, of Schedule 6S should be properly filled in.
• Transfer the data correctly in 6B
• Canvas schedule 6C for each establishment with
8 or more workers as per each page of 6A(item
26, and also as per total in BOX J)
Instructions for Supervisors
• Go round the EB with enumerator
• Identify the boundaries, landmarks, location of houses
with the help of LM and AHL
• ENSURE inclusion of all new houses
• Ensure coverage of each establishment and household
• Totals of each page of 6A to be checked
• Ensure proper filling of Schedule 6B;Each figure of 6A in
boxes A to J should be transferred properly by
enumerator
• Check the total of 6C canvassed . Ensure page wise
coverage of 6C schedule as per total in Box J of 6C
• Inspect atleast 2 houses per EB and submit its report,
covering 6A, 6B and 6C schedules, to Charge Officer
Inspections by NSSO,CSO and DES
during Field Survey
• At least one % of the EBs may be covered
randomly during the conduct of field work,
• Average cost per EB may be taken as @ Rs 1000
• Total cost works out to be Rs 2.5 crores for
25,000 inspections

• Collect details of Establishments from DIC,

• Ensure that it matches with the data collected at
village and ward level under Sixth EC
