Attitude is Everything!




Paul is writing from prison.
Nero had already condemned Paul to death.
Paul spent his time in prison encouraging those
who were free.
Paul teaches us our inner attitude doesn’t have
to reflect our outer circumstances.
Philippians 4 : 4-6

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again;
Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all.
The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your request
to God.
Philippians 4 : 8-9

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is
noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if
anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think
about such things. Whatever you have learned
or received or heard from me, or seen in me —
put it into practice.
Tough Times
If Paul had never been jailed we would
be missing a major portion of the new
testament.
Philippians 4 : 11-13

…I have learned to be content whatever the
circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, I
know what it is to have plenty. I have learned
the secret of being content in any and every
situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether
living in plenty of in want. I can do everything
through him who gives me strength.
How Do You Do That?
Focus on your Purpose, not your
Problems
Purpose Overrides Pain



Pregnancy pain is bad, but every mother will tell
you the purpose of going through the pain
(having a child) is worth it.
Since his purpose was to spread the gospel of
Jesus Christ, Paul just saw the new opportunities
while he was in jail to share his faith with a new
group and write more letters to the church.
What is your purpose in PFS?
When You Focus on
People, You Won’t Focus
on the Pain.

My kids.
My wife.
My parents.
My neighbors.
My friends.
My church.
Everyone else. I want to change the world!!
No Ego


Philippians 2 : 5 “Your attitude should be the
same as that of Christ Jesus; who, being in very
nature God, did not consider equality with God
something to be grasped, but made himself
nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, and
being made in human likeness.”
An RVP should be the servant leader of his
team.
Pray


Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious in anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present you requests to God.
Pursuit of Your Purpose


Philippians 3:13 “But one thing I do: Forgetting
what is behind and straining toward what is
ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the
prize for which God has called me heavenward
in Christ Jesus.”
Paul was about 67 years old and about to have
his head cut off! He is still focused the future!

Philippians 3:17 “Join with others in following
my example, and take note of those who live
according to the pattern we gave you.”
Watch who you hang around. Stay close to
those who have good attitudes and work. Avoid
the gripers and complainers.

Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is
with your heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your mouth that you confess and
are saved.
