Common Core Standards South Carolina has adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for K-12 English language arts and mathematics. The CCSS standards provide a consistent framework to prepare students for success in college or the 21st century workplace.

Standard Code of Dress Shirts: Any solid colored polo or collared shirt (shirts should not have logos, stripes, etc.) Pants/Shorts/Skirts: Navy, black, brown, gray or khaki Belts Shoes

Course Selection Sheets Soon you and your child will be choosing his/her classes for 6 th grade. The course selection sheet looks like…..
Schedules You will receive your schedule in the mail approximately 1 week before school begins. You will have opportunities to visit the campus prior to the first day of school.
You will have an opportunity to attend the first day of school with your 6 th grader!
Transportation Information DCMS will open at 7:45 a.m.
Students will begin to transition to their homebase at 8:20 a.m.
Class begins at 8:30 a.m.
Car-riders should enter/exit via the Mt. Gallant Road entrance.
The Car pool lane is behind the school – afternoon only. Parents should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance. Bus-riders should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance.

Nervous Starting middle school can be a little scary. Don’t worry… lots of other students (and parents) will feel nervous as well!
